Hello. My name is Manny Najera, and I am currently the varsity assistant coach at Westmoor High School in Daly City, CA. Before coaching varsity, I was the head junior varsity coach for 2 years. Through my experiences as a coach, I have met young individuals who have made a huge impact on my life. As a former player from Westmoor High School from 2007-2009, I experienced the bond of family and brotherhood in every sense of the word. The Westmoor Baseball program has turned young individuals, former players, alumni, and teachers into one big community. Today, this community is striving for one goal, and it is to support David Lait. David Lait is currently a junior at Westmoor High School, and a member of the varsity baseball team. David has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer known as osteo sarcoma. He began his chemotherapy on April 22nd, and will receive treatment for 10-12 months including bone replacement surgery. David is originally from the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific and currently lives with his guardian family. As a member of the Westmoor baseball team, David has made an impact on his teammates, coaches, and teachers, with his strength, humility, and especially his sense of humor throughout this difficult process. His guardian family will be enduring tremendous medical costs, but the immediate goal is to raise money for airfare so that his parents from the Marshall Islands can be by his side. After we are able to fly his parents in, all donations will go towards his chemotherapy, and any remaining medical costs. Please support David Lait and his battle with bone cancer.
